Ghalegaun Village Trekking is a highly popular cultural trek that takes us to the pristine village endowed with an unmatched picturesque magnificence. Situated at the altitude of 2016 m above sea level in the Lamjung district, the Ghalegaun village offers a magnificent Himalayan mountain view of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal, Bouddha Himal, Himalchuli and many more smaller peaks. Besides the mountain views, the warm and sincere hospitality of the Gurung people, traditional food and cultural show also lure the visitors.
Most of the houses are built in traditional style making Ghalegaun village quite attractive. In addition, the lifestyle of the village Ghanapokhara, lying north of Ghalegaun also reflects an exotic living ethnic tradition handed down over generations. Talangyo Lake for bird watching, Utter Kanya Temple, Pempro Fall,Batase Cave, Khudi hydroelectricity dam site, Pempro waterfall, beautiful rhododendron forest and Midim River are the centre of attractions for visitors in an around Ghalegaun and Ghanapokhara villages inhabited by Gurung communities. Most of the youths from Ghalegaun and Ghanapokhara are serving in British and Indian Army.
Ghalegaun trekking is graded as easy to moderate trekking trail which can accomplish at any time of year but September to November and March –April is the best season for trekking.
