Holy Dudh Kund Lake Trekking

Dudh kunda trekking is a popular trekking trail in the Everest region. Dudh Kunda (literally means milky lake) believed to be a holy lake and the locals believe that taking a dip in the holy water will have their wishes fulfilled. During full moon nights in month of August a week- long celebration is held here and both Hindu / Buddhist pilgrims and Jhakris (Shaman priests) pay a visit to this Holy Lake and perform religious rituals. Trekking to Dudh Kunda begins at Shivalaya after 7 hours overland drive from Kathmandu. You will follow the traditional trekking route up to Junbesi and traverse through Thupten Choling monastery to reach Dudh Kund Autumn & spring season is the best time for Everest Dudh Kund Lake trekking. Dudh Kund trekking trail takes you through dense forests of rhododendron, high mountain pass, Sherpa villages, monastery along the trails. The hospitality of the locals is one of the most heart warming experiences of the trek. If any trekkers would like to extend trekking to Everest base camp, it is possible to organize. This Dudh Kund trekking trail is less touristic but very exciting than the other Everest trekking trails.
